Nolubabalo Mcinga has publicly withdrawn the use of the title “Queen of the AbaThembu Royal Kingdom” and requested that media outlets and members of the public stop referring to her as Queen Khazeka or in any way suggesting that she still holds a queenly position within the AbaThembu Royal Kingdom.
In a public statement issued under her full name, Nolubabalo Khazeka Babsi Mcinga said the decision was taken to bring clarity and closure to what she described as ongoing confusion and misrepresentation surrounding her personal status and association with the AbaThembu Royal Kingdom.
Mcinga explained that she entered into a marriage relationship with AbaThembu King, His Majesty King Buyelekhaya Zwelibanzi Dalindyebo, through vows and a ceremony conducted before a priest, which she believed constituted a binding union. However, she clarified that the marriage was never officially registered with the Department of Home Affairs and therefore does not exist within the state’s civil registration system.
According to Mcinga, she later received written communication stating that the marriage was “forged” and “null and void,” alleging that the King’s intention had been falsely represented to her despite vows having been exchanged. She said the communication, reportedly attributed to the King himself, contributed to uncertainty and confusion regarding her status.
She further stated that no formal legal or customary dissolution process had ever been communicated to her, prompting her to make a personal decision to bring closure to the matter. Despite distancing herself from the royal title, Mcinga emphasized that she remains a daughter of the Amangxongo Royal House of the AbaThembu Kingdom through her paternal lineage and continues to honour her cultural and ancestral heritage.
Mcinga said she holds no resentment and acknowledged that both she and the King are now at peace. “We share meaningful memories from an important chapter of our lives. I accept that this chapter has come to a natural close,” she said. She added that she is stepping away from any public association with the marriage and title in order to move forward with “peace, clarity and dignity.” Mcinga also appealed to media houses to respect her wishes and ensure that future references to her name accurately reflect her clarified status without misrepresentation. :::
