The testimony of suspended Feroz Khan, Deputy Head of Crime Intelligence, before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry will be heard on 6 October 2026.
Parts of Khan’s testimony will be heard in camera, while the remainder of his evidence will be heard in public, physically at the commission.
Khan is among the senior police officials whose evidence is being considered by the commission as it investigates matters falling within its terms of reference, including allegations relating to policing, criminality and possible interference within law enforcement structures.
Feroz Khan’s Madlanga Commission timeline
28 June 2026: Khan was shot in Houghton, Johannesburg, and hospitalised.
1 July 2026: He was scheduled to testify but could not appear while recovering in hospital.
3–7 July 2026: The commission heard evidence relating to Khan in his absence, including WhatsApp communications. Parts of the evidence were heard in camera.
Mid-July 2026: Khan was discharged from hospital.
1 September 2026: Khan failed to appear after being subpoenaed to testify in person. His legal team sought a postponement on medical grounds.
1 September 2026: The commission postponed his testimony to 28 September and ordered an independent medical assessment to determine whether he was fit to testify.
25 September 2026: Evidence leaders applied for parts of Khan’s evidence to be heard in camera, citing sensitive information.
28 September 2026: Khan’s defence team applied for a further postponement of his testimony before the commission.
6 October 2026: Khan’s testimony is now expected to be heard, with some portions to take place in camera and the remainder in public.
