A 27-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly possessing three illegal firearms and ammunition in Bongolethu Location, outside Cacadu, in the Eastern Cape.
Police said members of the Komani Flying Squad and Crime Intelligence acted on information and searched a property on Tuesday, where they recovered two 9mm pistols, one revolver and 18 rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
Police confirmed the recovered firearms will undergo ballistic testing to establish whether they were used in the commission of other crimes.
The woman is expected to appear in the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court soon.
