The bail application of suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya has been postponed to 7 October 2026.
Sibiya appeared before the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Friday as the State continued its opposition to his release on bail.
He faces several charges, including rape, human trafficking and the alleged sexual grooming of a 16-year-old girl, as well as a firearm-related charge.
The State has raised concerns about possible witness interference should Sibiya be released on bail.
The court is expected to hear further arguments in the bail application when proceedings resume next week.
Sibiya remains in custody pending the continuation of the proceedings.
The matter will return to the Randburg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 7 October 2026.
