SASSA distances itself from viral fake job advert promising 200 Clerk posts

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has issued an urgent warning after a fake job advertisement claiming the agency is recruiting 200 administration clerks went viral on social media platforms, including TikTok.

The fraudulent post promises permanent government jobs with a salary of R12,000 per month, claiming applicants need only a Grade 10–12 qualification, computer literacy and a driver’s licence, with no previous experience required. It also directs users to an unofficial website to submit applications.

SASSA has confirmed that the advert is fake and warned the public not to apply through the website or click on any links associated with the post.

The agency said genuine SASSA vacancies are advertised only through official government recruitment channels and not through social media accounts or third-party websites.

Authorities have urged job seekers to remain vigilant, verify vacancies through official sources and avoid sharing personal information with unknown websites, as scammers continue targeting unemployed South Africans with false employment opportunities.
