The Electoral Commission has announced its final in-person voter registration weekend ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections, urging eligible South Africans to register and verify their voting details.
The registration drive will take place on 1 and 2 August 2026 at voting stations across the country, giving citizens another opportunity to register to vote, update their voter registration information and engage with Electoral Commission officials.
The Commission encouraged all eligible voters who missed the first registration weekend to take advantage of the final opportunity to ensure they are ready to cast their ballots in the upcoming local government elections.
“Every registration strengthens our democracy. Bring your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues, and help ensure that every eligible South African has the opportunity to participate in shaping the future of their community,” the Commission said.
Residents are encouraged to visit their designated voting stations during the registration weekend to confirm that their details are correct before the elections.
