Madlanga Commission to hear in-camera testimony from 5 October

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry will begin hearing in-camera testimony from Monday, 5 October 2026, as it considers evidence that cannot be disclosed publicly.

Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels said the closed-door proceedings will deal with sensitive information linked to ongoing investigations and other confidential matters.

The Commission has previously allowed witnesses to testify in camera where concerns relating to the safety and security of witnesses or the sensitivity of the evidence were raised.

Among those expected to give evidence under the in-camera arrangements is suspended Crime Intelligence deputy head Major-General Feroz Khan, who is scheduled to testify on 6 October.

The Commission’s public hearings are expected to resume on 9 November 2026, following the local government elections on 4 November.

The inquiry is investigating allegations relating to criminality, corruption and political interference within South Africa’s criminal justice and policing structures.
