The King Sabata Dalindyebo (KSD) Municipality has warned of serious economic consequences following the burning of business trucks in the area.
The municipality says the trucks were delivering goods to various destinations when they were allegedly set alight by unknown individuals on Wednesday, 12 August 2026.
KSD Executive Mayor Councillor Mkhanyiseli Dunywa has condemned the incidents, warning that attacks on businesses could undermine investor confidence and cost communities much-needed job opportunities.
The municipality says the truck burnings form part of a wider pattern of unlawful activities, including the destruction of public infrastructure, cable theft, the burning of electricity poles and attacks on economic activity.
Dunywa has called on law enforcement agencies to act against those responsible, saying such acts are undermining development and service delivery in the KSD area.
