A 31-year-old murder suspect is expected to appear in the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court on Monday following the brutal killing of a 64-year-old domestic worker in the Ndonga Administration Area, Cacadu.
The suspect was arrested after members of the Cacadu Crime Prevention and Detectives Unit launched an investigation into the incident and apprehended him at his homestead.
According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 11:00 on Saturday, 27 June 2026, when the victim arrived at the home of an elderly woman living with a disability, whom she assisted with daily household chores.
Police said the domestic worker was warming water to begin her duties when the elderly woman’s grandson allegedly confronted her, demanding to know why she was at the property.
As the elderly woman attempted to explain the victim’s presence, the suspect allegedly retrieved an axe from his bedroom and repeatedly assaulted the domestic worker.
The injured woman reportedly ran outside screaming for help, prompting neighbours to rush to the scene. Despite their efforts to assist, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards and has since been charged with murder.
District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph condemned the killing, expressing concern over what he described as increasing hostility and violence against vulnerable members of society.
“The law must take its course to eradicate such barbaric conduct in our communities,” said Major General Adolph.
The suspect is expected to face a charge of murder when he appears before the Cacadu Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
