Several parts of the country are bracing for cold weather, morning fog and damaging winds, with the South African Weather Service (SAWS) issuing a Yellow Level 2 warning for parts of the Western and Northern Cape.
In the Eastern Cape, cloudy conditions are expected in places over the interior, accompanied by morning fog. Elsewhere, conditions will be fine and cool to cold, becoming very cold along the Drakensberg and surrounding areas.
The affected municipalities include Emalahleni, Sakhisizwe, Senqu, Elundini and Matatiele.
SAWS said coastal winds in the Eastern Cape will be light to moderate north-easterly, becoming stronger from the south during the afternoon.
Meanwhile, a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging winds has been issued over the northern parts of the West Coast District and Witzenberg Local Municipality in the Western Cape, as well as the Namakwa District in the Northern Cape.
The strong winds could cause localised damage to temporary structures and reduce visibility due to dust storms.
The Northern Cape is expected to experience evening fog along the coast, with otherwise fine and cool to warm conditions in the west. The east will be partly cloudy, windy and cool to cold.
SAWS has also warned of extremely high fire danger conditions in the Nama-Khoi and Hantam local municipalities in the Northern Cape, as well as Matzikama and Cederberg in the Western Cape.
