The Alfred Nzo District Municipality has appointed Mr. Mthokozisi Khambula as Acting Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as the municipality moves to strengthen financial management and address ongoing administrative challenges.
Khambula’s appointment was approved during the municipality’s 18th Special Council Meeting and will run from 08 May 2026 until 08 August 2026, or until a permanent CFO is appointed.
The municipality said the CFO position has been vacant since 31 March 2025, prompting the need for an interim appointment while recruitment processes continue.
Currently serving as the municipality’s Chief Risk Officer, Khambula replaces Mr. Sakhiwo Nelani, who has now taken up the role of Acting Director: Strategic Governance.
Executive Mayor Cllr. Tsileng Sobuthongo told Council that filling the CFO position permanently remains a priority to ensure financial stability and improve service delivery across the district.
Council also used the sitting to approve an urgent request for bridging finance and discuss additional funding interventions as the municipality seeks to address financial pressures.
The meeting further received the MPAC report on the mid-term assessment of the municipality and ANDA.
