A 40-year-old Nigerian national is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after being arrested for allegedly dealing in and possessing drugs.
The suspect was arrested on Monday during an operation by the Provincial Organised Crime Narcotics, Anti-Gang and Organised Crime units.
Police had been tracking a white Kia Picanto allegedly used to deliver drugs. The driver fled along the R101 before abandoning the vehicle on the R37 and attempting to escape on foot.
He was arrested and police recovered CAT and ROCK drugs worth an estimated R20,000 from the vehicle.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers welcomed the arrest, saying police would continue disrupting the illicit drug trade and bringing suspects before the courts.
