Julius Mkhwanazi and four co-accused are returning to the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court to apply for bail in connection with the murder of businessman Emmanuel Mbense.
The group is accused of murdering 52-year-old Mbense at his Brakpan home in April 2022 before allegedly dumping his body in a dam near Nigel.
Evidence linked to the matter surfaced when Marius van der Merwe, referred to as “Witness D”, testified at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
The State has charged the accused with Schedule 6 murder, requiring them to demonstrate exceptional circumstances for bail.
Mkhwanazi is already out on bail in three separate cases.
Former EMPD officer Keisha-Leigh Stols is among the accused appearing in the matter.
