Mthatha Flying Squad arrest two suspects with allegedly stolen tipper truck

Two men aged 24 and 31 have been arrested after they were allegedly found in possession of a suspected stolen tipper truck near Gotyibeni locality in the Tsolo policing precinct.

Members of the Mthatha Flying Squad, working with private tracking company Netstar, apprehended the suspects at about 08:15 on Saturday, 15 August 2026.

Police were alerted by Netstar after tracking coordinates indicated that a white Power Star tipper truck, reported stolen in Umzinto, KwaZulu-Natal, was in the Tsolo area.

The vehicle was allegedly stolen in Umzinto and is linked to a Scottsburgh case opened in August 2026.

Following the information received from Netstar, Mthatha Flying Squad members responded to the location and arrested the two suspects. They were charged with unlawful possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Tsolo Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 17 August, to face the charges.

Acting OR Tambo District Commissioner, Brigadier Vukile Ntuli, applauded the successful collaboration between the police and the private tracking company.

Ntuli said the joint efforts demonstrate the importance of partnerships between law enforcement and the private sector in combating vehicle theft and other forms of crime.
