A woman believed to be in her 50s was shot dead in a brazen attack while sitting behind the wheel of her vehicle at the Kwadukuza off-ramp on Sunday, leaving her adult daughter injured.
IPSS Medical Rescue said paramedics responded to reports of a shooting and found the woman in the driver’s seat with multiple gunshot wounds. She was declared dead at the scene.
Her adult daughter, who was also inside the vehicle during the attack, sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment.
The motive for the shooting is still unknown, and it is not yet clear whether the victims were specifically targeted.
The South African Police Service has opened a murder case and launched an investigation into the deadly shooting. No arrests have been made.
