R1.5 million drug bust: 57-year-old woman arrested in Khayelitsha

Western Cape police have seized drugs worth an estimated R1.5 million during an intelligence-driven operation in Mandela Park, Khayelitsha.

Members of the Anti-Economic Crime Task Team, together with the Provincial Counterfeit and Illicit Goods Policing Team, raided premises in Raymond Mhlaba Crescent at about 03:30 on Monday, 24 August 2026.

During the search, police discovered 7 777 mandrax tablets and 1.6 kilograms of crystal meth.

A 57-year-old woman was arrested at the premises and is facing a charge of dealing in drugs.

Police said the suspect is expected to make her first appearance at the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court once she has been formally charged.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Western Cape police to dismantle drug networks and rid communities of illicit substances.
