Deputy Head of Crime Intelligence Feroz Khan is expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry today, where he is likely to face questions about the 2021 Aeroton drug bust, alleged illicit activities and procurement irregularities.
Khan was initially scheduled to appear before the commission on 1 July 2026. However, his testimony was postponed after he was critically wounded in a shooting in Houghton, Johannesburg.
He was admitted to Milpark Hospital, where he underwent emergency spinal surgery. His legal team previously told the commission that Khan was unconscious, non-verbal and medically unable to attend proceedings in person.
While Khan was in hospital, the commission continued examining evidence linked to him, including communications involving business figures such as Adriano Mazzotti and Mohammadh Sayed, as well as alleged links to tenders and tobacco companies.
His lawyers initially sought permission for portions of his evidence to be heard in camera, although that request was later withdrawn.
The commission has also examined Khan’s professional and personal relationships, including his interactions with former IDAC head Andrea Johnson and concerns surrounding the alleged sharing of sensitive police information.
