Deano van Rooyen parts ways with Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates have confirmed that defender Deano van Rooyen is leaving the club after both parties agreed to part ways by mutual consent.

The decision follows discussions between the player and the club, with both sides agreeing that it is the right time for Van Rooyen to begin a new chapter in his career.

Van Rooyen joined the Buccaneers from Stellenbosch FC ahead of the 2024/25 season, having established himself as one of the consistent full-backs in the Betway Premiership.

During his time at Pirates, the defender made more than 50 appearances and remained a professional presence, whether starting matches or making an impact from the bench.

Pirates thanked Van Rooyen for his contribution to the club and wished him well in the next chapter of his career.

The departure marks the end of his spell with the Soweto giants after two seasons at the club.
