A repatriation operation ended in tragedy on Wednesday after the driver of a bus transporting passengers from KwaZulu-Natal to a repatriation camp in Musina was killed when the vehicle overturned near the Beitbridge Border Post.
At least 11 other people were injured in the crash, which occurred on the N1 about four kilometres south of the border crossing.
According to authorities, the bus is believed to have overturned after the driver allegedly lost control due to fatigue.
Emergency services rushed to the scene, where the injured were treated before being transported to Musina Hospital for further medical care. The driver’s body was recovered at the scene.
