A joint law enforcement operation in Gqeberha has resulted in the arrest of 66 undocumented foreign nationals as authorities intensify security ahead of the planned nationwide demonstrations on 30 June.
The operations, conducted between 25 and 28 June 2026, involved SAPS, Municipal Police, Provincial and Municipal Traffic, the SANDF, and the Department of Home Affairs.
Police also confiscated three firearms and 12 rounds of ammunition. In Motherwell, a 62-year-old man was arrested for allegedly possessing an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
In Missionvale, Anti-Gang Unit members recovered a firearm after two suspected armed robbers fled from police. In a separate incident, a house robbery suspect was arrested after residents overpowered him before police arrived. A replica firearm was confiscated, while three accomplices remain at large.
The operations are continuing as police maintain a heightened security presence across the city.
