Durban City FC appoints Khalil Ben Youssef as new head coach

Durban City FC has appointed Tunisian coach Khalil Ben Youssef as its new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The 37-year-old CAF A Licence holder joins the club with extensive coaching experience gained in Tunisia, Morocco, Tanzania, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He has previously worked with AS FAR Rabat, Young Africans SC, Club Africain and Al Ahli SC, and most recently served on the technical team at Kaizer Chiefs.

His appointment comes as Durban City prepares for a historic season that includes the Betway Premiership, domestic cup competitions and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Chairman Farook Kadodia described Ben Youssef as a coach with strong experience and technical expertise, adding that the club is confident he can lead Durban City into its next phase of growth.

Ben Youssef said he was honoured to join the club and is eager to build a competitive team capable of matching the ambitions of Durban City FC.

“I am honoured to join Durban City FC and would like to thank the Chairman, the Board of Directors and everyone at the Club for the trust they have placed in me,” he said.

“This is an ambitious Club with a clear vision for the future, and I am excited to begin working with the players and technical staff as we prepare for the season ahead. My focus is on building a competitive team that reflects the values and ambitions of Durban City FC.”

The appointment signals the club’s intent to continue its impressive rise in South African football.
