South Africa national football team coach Hugo Broos has announced a 32-member preliminary squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The team will assemble in Johannesburg on Monday, 25 May 2026, with camp set to begin with 24 players as the Mamelodi Sundowns contingent and overseas-based players remain out of the country due to club commitments. Sundowns are only expected back in South Africa on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 after facing Moroccan giants AS FAR in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
The final 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup will be unveiled at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House in Pretoria on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. Broos will be joined by Cyril Ramaphosa and Danny Jordaan as the nation learns which players will represent South Africa on football’s biggest stage.
