Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant-General Shadrack Sibiya is due to face an internal South African Police Service (SAPS) disciplinary hearing on 5 October 2026.
Sibiya was served with the notice while appearing at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday for his bail application.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the disciplinary process will proceed regardless of the outcome of Sibiya’s bail application.
Should he remain in custody, arrangements will be made with Correctional Services for the hearing to be held at Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Centre. If he is granted bail, SAPS will inform him of the venue.
The disciplinary proceedings follow allegations raised during the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, which recommended disciplinary action against Sibiya.
The hearing is expected to be chaired by Lieutenant-General Jan Petrus Scheepers.
Sibiya is also facing a separate criminal case involving five charges, including rape, human trafficking and sexual grooming. He has denied the allegations.
His bail application is expected to resume on Thursday, 1 October 2026.
