Government has issued a final call to social grant beneficiaries still using SASSA gold cards to migrate to Postbank’s black cards before the 31 August 2026 deadline.
Beneficiaries have been urged to complete the migration process as soon as possible to avoid potential payment-service interruptions.
The migration is free of charge and beneficiaries only need to present a valid South African identity document or temporary ID to replace their gold cards.
Postbank is conducting the card replacement process at selected retail outlets, including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar.
With only a few days remaining before the deadline, Postbank has strengthened operations at card replacement sites to accommodate beneficiaries who have not yet migrated.
Government has also reassured grant beneficiaries that their grant payments will not be interrupted once they have successfully replaced their gold cards with the new Postbank black cards.
While most Postbank card replacement sites will remain open for a period after the 31 August deadline, beneficiaries are strongly encouraged not to delay the process.
