The highly anticipated appearance of alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala before the Madlanga Commission has been postponed.
Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels announced that Matlala will no longer testify on Tuesday, citing heightened media and public interest surrounding his expected evidence.
“Due to the heightened media and public interest in the testimony of Mr Vusimuzi Matlala, his evidence has been postponed to a date yet to be determined,” Michaels said.
Instead of appearing in person, Matlala’s legal representative will attend the proceedings on his behalf.
The commission has not yet announced a new date for Matlala’s testimony.
