Eskom reaches 406 days without load shedding

Eskom has recorded 406 consecutive days without load shedding, despite increased electricity demand during the winter season.

The power utility said the milestone is the result of its Generation Recovery Plan, with improved generation availability and fewer unplanned outages allowing it to meet demand while maintaining sufficient reserves.

“Improved generation availability and reduced unplanned outages are enabling Eskom to consistently meet electricity demand, while maintaining sufficient reserves and operational flexibility to manage changing system conditions across the country,” Eskom said.

Eskom also reported that its Energy Availability Factor has improved to 63.81%, while diesel expenditure has dropped by 84.19% compared to the same period last year.

“Eskom’s Winter Outlook… continues to project no load shedding, based on sustained improvements delivered through the Generation Recovery Plan,” the utility said.
