SANDF building plunged into darkness over unpaid electricity bill

The City of Tshwane has disconnected electricity at a building housing the South African National Defence Force in the Pretoria CBD over an unpaid municipal bill exceeding R627 000.

Executive Mayor Nasiphi Moya, together with the city’s Revenue Protection Unit, revisited the property as part of an ongoing operation targeting defaulting accounts.

According to Moya, the property owes the metro more than R627 000, prompting the city to cut power supply.

She said the move forms part of the municipality’s broader revenue collection and enforcement campaign aimed at recovering outstanding debt owed to the city.
