Construction on the N2 project between KwaBhaca and eMaXesibeni is expected to resume after the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) settled an outstanding payment owed to the contractor.
Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) confirmed the development following a stakeholder engagement held on Friday, 21 August 2026.
The municipality said SANRAL has processed and paid the outstanding amount, removing the payment issue that had disrupted construction activities.
Executive Mayor Cllr Tsileng Sobuthongo welcomed the resolution, saying all stakeholders remain committed to ensuring that the project is completed within the agreed timeframes.
“We welcome the fulfilment of SANRAL’s commitment and the resolution of the payment matter. We are encouraged that construction will resume and that all stakeholders remain committed to ensuring that this important infrastructure project is completed within the stipulated timeframes,” said Sobuthongo.
